How to make appointments

We prefer all patients to make a booking where possible to ensure you have sufficient time dedicated to address your medical issue.

We understand sometimes there are unexpected events, and walk-ins are still accepted but will be asked to wait until we can see you between existing appointments.  If the matter is urgent or an emergency please notify our reception staff on your arrival and the doctor will address this accordingly.

Please be aware that it is a practice policy that if you have repeatedly cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours notice, that a cancellation/rebooking fee may apply for future appointments.

Length of appointments

Our standard appointments are 15 minutes, but longer appointments can be made depending on the need and circumstances.  Please notify our reception staff if you think you may need a longer appointment.

Telephone calls

Our practice offers telehealth consultations (consultations performed via video call or telephone call).  If you need to contact our doctors regarding a matter please contact reception who will take a message and arrange either an appointment or a call back, otherwise if they can assist with your issue they will try and do so.  If the matter is urgent or an emergency please let our reception staff know.

If you need to see a doctor outside the surgery

We do not routinely perform home visits, but if there is an emergency or urgent care please notify our reception staff and they will advise or discuss with the doctor regarding the best approach.

Fees and billing

We would like to advise that Family Focus Medical will be transitioning to mixed billing from 3/2/2025.

Since the medicare freeze from 2013, medical practices have continued as long as possible to absorb the cost of providing ongoing healthcare, and have tried as long as possible to hold off passing on cost to patients.  Unfortunately to be able to keep our staff paid, bills covered, and the lights on, it has become unsustainable to continue as purely bulk billed practice, while striving to maintain the best possible ongoing care to those we are here to bless, our patients.

Due to this, we have made the difficult decision to transition to mixed billing to be able to continue the viability and sustainability of Family Focus Medical ongoing into the future. We appreciate this will impact all people differently, and we completely understand if patients prefer to transfer their care to another practice.  In these situations we will seek to support you in any transition you need, with a transfer of records when we have received an official request from your new practice.

Pensioners, health care card holders, children <16yo and DVA card holders will still be bulk billed. A schedule of fees will be available via reception.GP management plans/Team Care Arrangements/reviews and Mental Health Care Plans/reviews will continue to be bulk billed. We will otherwise seek to make our fees as reasonable as possible, while trying to maintain the ongoing sustainability of Family Focus Medical as a practice.

We greatly appreciate everyone’s understanding and support during this time.

If you have further questions about this please feel free to reach out to our staff or doctors to discuss this further.  We look forward to providing high level and compassionate care to the people of our community for as long as we possibly can.

If you have private insurance, consultations and care are usually billed as per what is covered by your insurer.  If you do not have medicare or private insurance there is a private fee based on the duration of your review, which can be discussed with reception before your appointment.
